US firms allowed to invest in Iran oil
There is no barrier for the presence of foreign companies in the Iranian oil industry, says the head of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).
“The Islamic Republic has always welcomed the investment by all foreign companies in Iranian oil, gas and petrochemical projects, including US firms,” Seyfollah Jashnsaaz said Tuesday.
He said there would be no legal obstacle if US firms want to negotiate over their investment in the Iranian oil industry, adding that their return would benefit all parties.
Iran oil reserves increase, officials say
TEHRAN, May 12 (UPI) — Iran’s proven oil reserves increased dramatically, bringing in foreign investments of roughly $10 billion in the past year, officials said.
Seifollah Jashnsaz, director of the National Iranian Oil Co., told the Mehr news agency in Iran that oil reserves now stand at more than 138 billion barrels and production has increased substantially.
Iran opens doors to foreign banks
For the first time since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Iran is set to allow foreign banks to establish branches in the country and engage in normal banking operations.
Article 44 of the Iranian Constitution Law had heretofore placed banking activities exclusively in the hands of government. In tandem with the Law on Usury Free Banking Operations, these two measures effectively blocked foreign banking operations from conducting business in mainland Iran.

Iran: further OPEC output cut possible
TEHRAN (Reuters) – Iran’s OPEC governor said if oil demand continued to drop the group may decide to further cut its oil output, the Iranian newspaper Hamshahri on Monday quoted him as saying.
“If the demand continues to decrease until the next OPEC meeting, further output cut is possible,” Mohammad Ali Khatibi said. The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries next meets on May 28.
Morocco to Maintain Iran Oil Imports Following Diplomatic Spat
April 10 (Bloomberg) — Morocco will continue to import oil from Iran, which supplied more than a fourth of its crude in 2008, even after cutting diplomatic ties with the Islamic republic, the head of the country’s sole oil refiner said.
“We haven’t received any government instructions to stop buying oil from Iran, and shipments are proceeding as usual,” Jamal Ba-Amer, chief executive officer of Societe Anonyme Marocaine de l’Industrie du Raffinage told reporters at the company’s headquarters in Mohammedia late yesterday.
